In this paper, researchers propose, as Millar et al. did a few years earlier, that it is time to revisit the role of inflammation in chronic tendon injuries. They state that although the old inflammation model of tendinitis was not useful for fully understanding tendinopathy, neither was the zero inflammation model of tendinosis. Inflammatory cells have been found in tendinopathy, and better treatments might be discovered by considering the inflammation-mediated processes involved in the injury.
